The Kalnų Ereliai (Mountain Eagles) Alpine Ski Team was founded in 2005 by Jennifer Virškus in partnership with the Lithuanian Alpine Ski Federation to cultivate and encourage alpine ski racing in Lithuania from the grass-roots level.
The team was made up of boys and girls ages 4-17. At the height of the club, there were some 55 members, in part-time, full-time, and national team training groups. Club participants competed in national and international races on the weekends in Lithuania and throughout Europe, attended team and FIS training camps in the summer and fall in Austria and Slovakia, and participated in the Lithuanian National Championships held at various ski resorts in the Alps.
In the off-season, there were dryland training sessions and camps. In early September, they ran the Vilnius Mini-Marathon as a team to show their dedication and team spirit. Throughout the fall they attended weekly training sessions and participate in activities such as rollerblading, mountain biking and football (soccer).
